Week 1: Understanding chronic pain

Week 4: Healthy thinking, healthy self

Week 5: Balancing your activity patterns

Week 6: Maintaining your gains and staying well

Great job, you have made it to the end of the education content for Week 2. This week we discussed self-monitoring as a way to better understand your chronic pain. We also discussed a few theoretical models for understanding chronic pain. Amongst these was the CBT model of chronic pain, which shows how your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and pain interact and can create a vicious cycle. We covered skills to help you monitor your pain and get to know it better, along with strategies for effective goal setting.

We encourage you to try out these skills in your daily life. The skills from this week form the foundation for skills you’ll learn later in the course. As such, it is important that you practice and become very familiar with them. The more you practice, the more you’ll reap the rewards down the track. Next week, we build on these skills by learning more about stress management and relaxation.
