Fantastic job on completing another week’s worth of educational content. This week we have focused on ways to manage your social anxiety through emotional awareness and regulation skills. In the early sections, we covered the reasons why our emotions and emotion regulation strategies are important. This helped us to understand why we need to change our relationship with anxiety, rather than try to get rid of it altogether.

We then covered specific skills to help you understand and name your anxiety, check whether your anxiety fits the facts, and use opposite action to manage anxiety. Finally, we discussed how to cope ahead for difficult situations and build a sense of mastery over time. You will need to practice these skills regularly to get the most benefit. With time, you will start to notice improvements, such as being able to recognise, tolerate, and influence your emotions better. You might also notice your anxiety becomes less frequent and less intense.
